What Is POS Booking Status?
If you take orders at a physical location using Shopify POS, the POS Booking Status extension gives your staff instant visibility into BookingItNow activity right from the POS home screen.
It adds a tile to your POS home screen showing the count of bookings processed by BookingItNow today. Tapping the tile opens a modal listing recent requests with customer names, services, and statuses — so your team can confirm that a sale was picked up by BookingItNow without having to open a laptop.
Enabling the Extension
The extension is included with BookingItNow but must be enabled in the POS app:
- Open the Shopify POS app on your device
- Tap the ≡ menu → Settings
- Go to Home screen tiles
- Find BookingItNow — Booking Status and toggle it on
- The tile appears on the POS home screen immediately
The Tile
The tile shows:
- Today's booking count — the number of BookingItNow bookings created from POS sales today
- A tap target to open the detail modal
The count refreshes each time the tile is rendered. If no bookings have been processed today, the tile shows 0.
The Modal
Tapping the tile opens a modal with a list of recent bookings. Each entry shows:
- Customer name and email
- Service name
- Booking status (Pending, Confirmed, etc.)
- Timestamp
The list shows the most recent bookings across all services for your shop, not limited to today. Scroll to see older entries.
Who Should Use This
POS Booking Status is most useful for:
- Retail + service hybrid stores — where a staff member processes a sale at the counter and wants to immediately verify that the booking request was sent to Jobber
- High-volume days — quickly checking at a glance how many bookings have been created during a shift
- Stores without a dedicated computer at POS — staff can see booking activity without switching apps
Troubleshooting
Tile doesn't appear on the POS home screen
- Confirm you enabled it in POS Settings → Home screen tiles (not just installed the app)
- The device must be running a recent version of the Shopify POS app. Update via the App Store / Google Play if needed.
- POS UI extensions require the Shopify POS Pro subscription on your Shopify plan. Check with your Shopify plan settings if the tile option doesn't appear in POS settings.
Tile shows 0 bookings but orders went through
- Confirm the orders were placed through Shopify POS (not online) and that the products are linked to BookingItNow services
- Check the Activity feed in the BookingItNow dashboard — do those orders appear? If not, the webhook didn't fire. Confirm the orders were fulfilled in Shopify (POS orders sometimes require manual fulfillment).
Modal shows outdated or missing bookings
The modal fetches data live from BookingItNow each time it opens. If data looks stale, close and reopen the modal. If bookings are consistently missing, check the Activity feed in the web dashboard and contact support if there's a discrepancy.
FAQ
Does POS Booking Status work with all providers (Calendly, Cal.com, Jobber)? Yes — the tile and modal reflect all BookingItNow activity regardless of provider.
Can I see the booking link or Jobber request number in the modal? Currently the modal shows status-level information (customer, service, status). A deeper drill-through to the full booking record is on the roadmap.
Is there a way to get notified when a new booking comes in via POS? Not from the POS extension itself — but the BookingItNow Activity feed in the web dashboard captures all events, and email notifications are configured in Settings → Email Notifications.
